Pabulum for the Masses

Why is network news so awful? Because the main stream media [MSM] is no longer concerned with truth or unbiased journalistic integrity, that’s why. Those qualities have disappeared from contemporary broadcast media since Reagan abolished the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. According to the MSM, the only news worth covering is the campaign of Donald Trump.

Today, it’s all about infotainment and ratings and sponsorship dollars. Honesty and journalistic ethics are no longer part of the equation. Not even close. The MSM cares only about dollar signs; sensationalism over substance. It’s telling and sadly pathetic that Fox News is permitted to use the word “news” in their name or that Murdoch’s network is actually taken seriously in this country.

Real journalism is a fond memory from days gone by.

The agenda setting, corporate MSM is nothing more than state sponsored propaganda: it has to be, considering the inherent institutional and ideological bias which prevents any actual objective reporting from taking place. Judging by the plethora of commercials that run during the network news, the only people still watching are balding, impotent cholesterol-laden diabetics who enjoy drinking terrible beer and driving pick-up trucks.

The commercial break is the real program: the rest is just bait.

This socially-engineered model is used by a handful of corporate media owners to create more wealth for themselves while providing strategic political cover for the vast array of fascistic interests they are ultimately beholden to.

The MSM has been nothing more than pabulum and state propaganda since the 1963 coup d’état. This has especially been the case since George W. Bush was installed as war-monger-in-chief in 2000. The subsequent manufactured false flag of 9/11 was used to usher in the corporate-state’s dream of transforming our ostensibly democratic society into a full-blown police state.

We are a nation at war with the world, at war with each other and at war with the global environment. Hell, America is at war with planet earth!!

Our trillion-dollar “defense” budget continues to grow exponentially year after year and yet this country has virtually no infrastructure left; a failed education system, the worst healthcare in the civilized world and zero manufacturing base. We’ve got nothing left, with one huge exception: weapons production!

Business has never been better for the scum of the earth. When war-making is your number one source of global income and your only political option, you are simply going to allow the wars to continue. Duh. The objective is never to win. The objective is simply to keep them going.

Sadly, none of what has transpired thus far could ever have been achieved without a pliable and totally subservient media, eager to sell falsehoods in exchange for sponsorship dollars. The MSM peddles trivialities to a brainwashed public too ignorant to even begin to realize that cutting taxes for the rich is never a good thing or that governments don’t remove our civil liberties in order to protect us.

Critical thinking is non-existent in the USA.

The MSM has grown more surreal in its totally over-the-top pro-war stance: even in the wake of the disasters in Afghanistan and Iraq – two of the worst war crimes in history. Deception, xenophobia and fear-mongering are all necessary, because the MSM realize that it’s basically only the dumbest, most gullible and out of touch viewers who still rely on them for news. Okay, so that includes most Americans.

The biggest problem with ‘news-as-spectacle’ is obviously what doesn’t get covered: corporate malfeasance, climate change, the growing numbers of poor, a decaying infrastructure; workers without affordable healthcare, pensions or benefits of any kind…

Other topics NOT approved for public debate include the hijacking of the American electoral system by the One Percent – thanks to the Supreme Court – or the billions in military and logistical support the USA gives to repressive, despotic regimes around the world.

Essentially anything of any real importance which may actually affect people’s lives is off limits for discussion. No wonder Americans are so profoundly ignorant about the world: it is neither advantageous nor profitable to inform the population of the many ways that unrestrained capitalism has destroyed society.
