Author David Talbot makes a convincing case for the existence of an extremely powerful, utterly sociopathic group working behind the scenes of the US Government in his book, “The Devil’s Chessboard”

The mastermind of this secret oligarchy was former CIA Director Allen Dulles.

His Machiavellian misdeeds include a long collaboration with the Nazis (and other fascist leaders) as an attorney for Sullivan & Cromwell and as a US Ambassador before, during and after World War Two; overthrowing various democratically-elected governments such as Mossadegh in Iran in 1953 thus returning the Shah to power and overthrowing and eventually assassinating president Jacobo Árbenz in Guatemala the following year.

He was also directly responsible for the death of Patrice Lumumba in the Congo in 1961 just days before JFK – a longtime supporter of African nationalism – took office. Dulles kept Lumumba’s arrest and assassination a secret from Kennedy for over a week before telling him of the news. This was essentially an act of treason.

These activities were routinely conducted against democratically-elected leaders with wide popular support. Dulles also supported pro-empire military coup leaders in Algeria in their effort to overthrow French President Charles de Gaulle because he [de Gaulle] wanted to end the occupation and recognize Algerian sovereignty.

As CIA Director, Dulles helped engineer the Bay of Pigs invasion, which turned out to be his ultimate downfall. In public, Kennedy took the blame, but privately he pinned the blame on Dulles and fired him.

After he was unceremoniously fired as CIA Chief, Dulles used his many contacts to help organize the assassination of JFK. The motivation was ostensibly to defeat Communism but in reality it was catering to the corporate agenda – which at the time was in hot pursuit of the global empire we  have today.

The book concludes with Dulles’ death in the early 70s, but it is painfully clear that the dark forces put in place by Dulles and his friends are very much still in existence; thriving even. Millions have died at the hands of the CIA or by the petty tyrants the agency has empowered.

I wonder no more why America is blissfully goose stepping into fascism – and I’m not talking about the skinheads: I’m talking about real-live Nazis, former Nazis and their sympathizers. Their ideas still live in the rarefied air of high finance and in the upper echelons of military, manufacturing and government. The Bush dynasty knows a lot about this, starting with good old Prescott.

The supposed motivation for many of these activities was to stem the rise of communism in Western Europe; however, the Bolshevik-Communist revolution was controlled and financed by the same cartel of predatory capitalists that own Washington and The City of London today. That theory simply doesn’t wash.

Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro initially turned to Washington for help before accepting aid from Moscow. They operated under the delusion that America wanted to spread democracy – which is the last thing the US government wants.

Hopelessly corrupt dictators, controlled by Washington and London for their masters in the Rothschild-Bilderberg-Capitalist Cartel: that is what the US government wants.

The historical record shows beyond any doubt that many wealthy, influential Americans supported Adolf Hitler before the war and they wanted him to destroy the commies on behalf of western capitalism. IBM, Ford, GM, Standard Oil and many other giant US corporations financially supported Hitler’s regime…through the end of the war.

And when the Russians defeated America’s proxy army, the USA welcomed thousands of Nazi leaders onto American soil with open arms, and the Justice Department protected them until they were expendable.

A lot of these war criminals were of no value whatsoever to American interests, either. They were ardent, unrepentant, baby-raping village-burning Nazis. Forget for a moment the ones everybody knows about: Adolf Eichmann, Otto Skorzeny, Walter Dornberger, Klaus Barbie, Josef Mengele, Arthur Rudolph, Otto von Bolschwing and Erich Priebke. With the help of the INS and the FBI, the CIA hired thousands of low level assassins and cold blooded killers like Tscherim Soobzokov and John Demjanjuk to fight the spread of communism in Europe. The CIA, Red Cross, Catholic Church and the Vatican systematically offered assistance to the fleeing Nazis.

Operation Gladio facilitated the release of the most notorious mafia bosses – including Lucky Luciano – jailed by Mussolini at the start of the war. This ‘marriage of convenience’ led to widespread political corruption and many years of bloodshed in Italy: the “years of lead.”

Before the war with Japan was over the US government had recruited Nazi spymaster Reinhard Gehlen and his entire organization of storm-troopers to work for the allies. Besides being vicious killers, they were loyal only to Nazism. Allen Dulles, John J. McCloy and the rest didn’t care. They needed to fight the commies.

Gehlen helped to greatly expand the cold war by grossly over-inflating Russian capabilities to his new benefactors, costing us billions and kicking off the Cold War. He caused severe damage to our nation’s security. He was able to accomplish the virtual ‘nazification’ of our intelligence services, a legacy which lasts today.

The Cold War has been conveniently replaced by the War on Terror but the script is still the same: Assassinate populist leaders, murder their supporters, control the media, and exploit the resources for the private profits of a greedy few.
