I’m against flu shots and most vaccines.
I guess that makes me some kinda ‘anti-vax’ conspiracy nutcase. I’m 53 years old and I’ve never voluntarily had a flu shot, I admit it. But I am also healthier than most people my age. I just think that getting an ill-vetted vaccine each season is not a good idea in general; side effects are more common in seasonal vaccines, and usually result in lowering the efficacy of the vaccine(!)
My dad was a pharmacist and he was convinced that vaccines are mostly a scam. He never got flu shots, either.
I’d rather build up my own immunity and keep it current in order to give my body a better chance of recovering from ALL illnesses, not just the flu. Granted, that approach only really works with a mature and healthy immune system…
The so-called progressives need to quit denigrating people who have legitimate concerns about being forced to take medical procedures – which have real, acknowledged risks – against their will. They tend to lump those opposed to forced vaccinations with people who think the earth is flat and those who wear aluminum foil hats to protect them from mind-control.
Usually people who have to use straw-man arguments and red-herrings do so because they don’t actually have a point that makes any sense.
For instance: when it comes to the safety and efficacy of childhood vaccinations, why does it make sense to trust the government and big pharma – both proven to be consistent, pathological liars – in this one specific case only? Since when has the pharmaceutical industry ever been trustworthy regarding the dangerous side effects of drugs? Why is it okay not to use any critical thinking skills when it comes to this issue and this issue only – especially considering that it impacts your children’s health?
I mean, what is the logic here: “Oh, I know they lie about everything else, but when it comes to vaccines I think we should totally trust the government.” WTF? Are you an idiot?
People want to believe that doctors and pharmaceutical companies have only our best interests in mind; of course they do. But they would be wrong. Time and time again. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
The public will only find out twenty years from now when the documents are finally released through the FOIA which prove the link between vaccines and autism. Like we haven’t seen this pattern before, right?
We need more information and hard, unadulterated science regarding vaccines – not hysterics and shrill name-calling.
Before labeling others as ‘kooks’ and ‘conspiracy nuts’ it would be useful to read the National Vaccine Information Center website. Among the reactions listed on the Vaccine Injury Table – those presumed to be caused by the vaccine within a particular time frame – are anaphylaxis, encephalopathy, encephalitis, chronic arthritis, brachial neuritis, Vaccine-Strain Measles Viral Infection in immune deficient people and paralytic and vaccine-strain polio in immune deficient and non-immune deficient people.
There are serious health risks linked to vaccines. It’s a fact; deal with it.
These risks are admitted by those who administer the vaccines and by the drug manufacturers themselves. Just like there are risks to surgery or any other invasive procedure, people have the right to make the choice for themselves whether they wish to take those risks.
It’s called common sense.
