Colin Kaepernick is taking a knee for his beliefs. I respect him for that.

The whole pseudo-controversy surrounding Kaepernick’s mild protest is simply another meaningless side-show meant to divert America’s attention from matters of real importance. These incidents merely serve to further indoctrinate the country’s already docile masses and inculcate them with even more nationalistic fervor.

It’s bad enough that I was forced to pledge allegiance to a country I was born into under a god I didn’t believe in as a child. Every kid in America already recites that classic bit of propaganda every morning. I still remember every word:

I pledge allegiance to the flag

of the United States of America,

and to the republic for which it stands,

one nation under God, indivisible,

with liberty and justice for all.

But that’s not enough. We need more indoctrination, more nationalism and a return to the “us versus them” attitude. Right?

Because that’s the problem with Americans: we aren’t patriotic enough. I mean sure, we feel that someone who doesn’t stand up for the fucking national anthem should be crucified and that we have a right to tell every other nation on earth how to live and all that, but that really isn’t enough, is it?

Elementary school kids are told by their teachers that they don’t need to learn about other countries because America is the best one. The average person really has no idea just how brainwashed Americans already are. But still it’s not enough.

Not the flag-waving hyper nationalism; not the state-controlled media; not the demonizing of large groups of minorities: Not enough.We need to make the country great again! We need ideological purity and intolerance for those who differ. No dissenters allowed: everyone must worship the iconography of the fatherland.

You’d better salute that goddam flag and stand up for the national Anthem! Or else.

Maybe we could create some sort of youth organization designed to instill even more patriotism in America’s children. Apparently the Boy Scouts aren’t doing a good enough job. This is one area where we could learn a few things from the Nazis.

We could change the military salute into one with a straight, raised arm; the hand flat in front, fingers outstretched. We can start with cadres of loyal charter-school children; taught the proper values of praying to Jebus, consuming mass quantities and spying on one another for the state.

He can call them…oh, I don’t know…the ‘Trump Youth?’
