The term “conspiracy theory” was invented and inserted into the public domain by the CIA in 1964 to discredit the many skeptics who challenged the Warren Commission’s ridiculous and illogical conclusion that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by lone gunman Lee Harvey Oswald.
UT Political Science professor Lance deHaven-Smith coined the term ‘State Crimes Against Democracy’ (SCADs) in his 2010 book, Conspiracy Theory in America. SCADs are “actions undertaken in direct violation of sworn oaths of office to circumvent, exploit, or otherwise undermine or subvert laws and institutions to advance personal or political gain and/or to silence or otherwise suppress public foreknowledge and awareness.”
The success which the CIA has had in stigmatizing any rational skepticism of ‘incomplete’ government explanations has made it far more difficult to investigate SCADs such as 9/11. With the public mind programed to ridicule “conspiracy nuts” – even in the case of highly suspicious events – the government can legally destroy evidence, ignore prescribed procedures, delay investigations, and then form the committee to put its official veneer on the cover story. Professor deHaven-Smith notes that in events such as Kennedy’s assassination and 9/11, official investigations are never conducted. The event is generally handed off to a “bi-partisan” political commission.
According to deHaven-Smith, the SCAD approach assumes that “the CIA and other possibly participating agencies are formulating memes well in advance of operations, and therefore SCAD memes appear and are popularized very quickly before any competing concepts are on the scene.”
In other words: they already have a cover story prepared. DeHaven-Smith’s book alleges that the US government controls the story from the very beginning with the official explanation ready the moment a SCAD occurs. This quickly brands any alternative explanation a “conspiracy theory.”
The CIA’s ability to control the public’s perception of what any rational human being would consider to be suspicious events involving the government simply enables those in power to orchestrate further incidents which serve different hidden agendas. The events of September 11 created the new paradigm of endless war on behalf of a MIC-dominated world. The government’s success in controlling public opinion has made it virtually impossible to investigate the political crimes of the 1%.
Treason is now official US government policy.
SCAD – State Crimes Against Democracy; I’ll have to remember that one, Jason!
