Misogyny and Race

There is no doubt that misogyny played a role in the U.S. elections. There are only 23 women CEOs out of all the Fortune 500 companies, which is fairly damning evidence of prejudice. Additionally, only one of those 23 women is black – Xerox Chairman and CEO Ursula Burns – and there are only five black CEOs currently running Fortune 500 companies. Race is as much of a barrier as gender to upward mobility and yet somehow, Barrack Obama managed to win two elections against far more credible candidates than Donald Trump.

But the sad truth is that most of the women who voted for Trump are either A) really dumb; B) weirdo religious fanatics; C) married – or in a relationship with – an overbearing neocon; or D) they are simply amoral sociopaths – like so many men these days.

CNN ran a story before the election featuring nine female Trump voters, and their reasons for supporting him were all just plain idiotic. Some were sure the media was making up stories about him assaulting and groping women – apparently refusing to believe Trump himself, since he bragged about it publicly…

It’s worth noting that Trump garnered about the same number of votes as Romney and McCain: the Republican base came out for their candidate regardless of how they felt about him personally. At some point, however, it must be acknowledged that Clinton simply couldn’t win over enough voters because she didn’t offer a propitious alternative to Trump. Voters had a choice between Screaming Orange Head or Dull Pant Suit Lady. What happened is not surprising.

This was the most disturbing political event in modern American history…maybe ever.
