That’s the real story.

Venezuelan President Maduro has accused the USA of responsibility for the nationwide blackout which has affected the country for five days now. This is an incredible, virtually unprecedented cyber-attack.

It is also safe to say it is the work of the CIA.

In any case, one would be foolish to think that some measly opposition party in Venezuela has the capability of perpetrating a cyber-attack massive and sustained enough to shut down the infrastructure of any nation, let alone Venezuela, for any amount of time.

An article on ZDNet from January 29^th 2019 gives the game away. It’s a review of a paper featured in The Worldwide Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Community, a yearly publication of the US Department of Defense. The headline reads:

Cyberattacks: China and Russia can disrupt US power networks warns intelligence report

The byline claims that the assessment showed that Russia and China “could launch damaging attacks against gas pipelines and electricity grid…”

Hmmm. Fascinating! You don’t say.

The ZDNet article goes on to state: “Both China and Russia now have the capabilities to launch cyberattacks that could at least temporarily disrupt US critical infrastructure such as gas pipelines or power networks, according to intelligence officials…”

Okay. So I must point something out here that might seem kind of obvious to those who work in the intelligence community: If we are worried enough about the growing problem this kind of cyber threat poses…it’s because we already have that capability. We know the dangers because we’ve simulated it and modeled it and we saw what can happen. So yeah, we’ve got reason to be concerned. So do the Venezuelan people.

Only a country with the cyber warfare capabilities of the US, China or Russia and probably Israel are capable of an attack on this scale. If we suspect those other countries of such a thing, we’ve probably had that capability for decades. Do journalists bother to read any of the books on this subject?

Genocidal maniac Elliot Abrams and his even more psychotic boss John Bolton are clearly responsible for this blatant act of terrorism against the sovereign nation of Venezuela. But shhh, we’re not supposed to know that…

We gave Hugo Chavez cancer by simply rubbing Novichock on his door knob. Then we ruined their economy through the IMF and World Bank. We have other weapons at our disposal.

The point is: WE WANT THEIR OIL.

You do realize that Venezuela is sitting on top of the world’s largest oil reserves, right?

We don’t give a shit about restoring democracy or ridding the country of corruption or some evil dictator or whatever. Fuck that. The last thing we want is a democracy! If we were concerned about any of that stuff we’d start right here at home.
