So what is it about white male American cops which enables them to shoot Black people in the back on such a regular basis? Clearly they are essentially cowards and they’re scared shitless of Black people – especially Black men – but it’s more than that.
Part of it is endemic racism, yes; but a lot of it has to do with the working environment in many Police Departments in this country. The biggest problem seems to be the training. Why can’t we train our cops to shoot people’s legs out from under them instead of nine times in the back at close range? Or not shoot at all?
A recent study by the University of Chicago showed that US police officers failed to meet even the most basic human rights standards governing the use of lethal force. The report found that not a single police department among the 20 largest American cities was compliant with international Human Rights laws.
Researchers found that none of the departments were operating under guidelines that are compliant with the minimum standards laid out under international human rights laws.
Law scholars noted several failings, especially regarding the use of lethal force. Many police departments routinely violate the simple requirement that lethal force should only be wielded when facing an immediate threat, or as a last resort. Some departments allow deadly force in cases of “escaping suspects” “fugitives” or even “prevention of crime” – all scenarios that would fall well outside the boundaries of international law.
America’s biggest police forces lack legality, the study found, because they don’t have to answer to any human rights laws authorizing the use of lethal force. Recent deaths in police custody have underlined the fatal results of officers applying lethal force in situations that do not meet the criteria of a “last resort.” George Floyd died after he was pinned down under an officer’s knee for almost 9 minutes, even though he did not resist arrest.
Data collected by Bellingcat and Forensic Architecture showed that at least 950 instances of police brutality against civilians and journalists have occurred during the anti-racism protests which have arisen in the past five months.
The fact that police forces in the biggest US cities fail to meet very basic human rights standards should be deeply concerning to every citizen, yet the narrative has already been hijacked by the mainstream media (MSM) and all those LAW AND ORDER fuckers who support the police state.
The report concluded that the unrestrained use of lethal force is a form of “state-sanctioned violence.” The lax framework of US policing has contributed to the recent spate of police killings of unarmed black people.
The need for restrictions on police brutality has been codified in international law for over 40 years. All 193 member nations of the UN – including the US – have signed a code of conduct for law enforcement officials adopted in 1979. The University of Chicago study underlines how far adrift policing in America has become from international norms, making the US a “lonely outlier on the world stage,” as The Guardian put it.
But of course most Americans aren’t even aware that this damning report exists. It was released quietly back in June 2020 and quickly suppressed by the ever obedient MSM. Because keeping The Truth from the American people is JOB ONE for the US propaganda machine; especially when it comes to exposing the authority of the ever more powerful – and expanding – Police State.
The USA is descending into fascism. Citizens are under threat by racist, trigger-happy paramilitary police forces across the nation, operating with zero accountability.
Rest assured, it’s all part of the plan. There will be no de-funding of any police departments; that was only a pipe dream of faux-progressives and idealists. No matter how many innocent people the cops kill, over the next few years, cities large and small across the USA will be allocating ever more funds to local police departments in the name of “security.”
Whatever happens on November 3rd it will have no effect on THE AGENDA.
The Police State is here to stay.
