I dare call it treason

It is clear that tRump never plans to concede. This is the most likely scenario: once the election is certified in favor of Joe Biden, tRump will claim the election was stolen; he will then announce his candidacy for 2024, and his minions will be unleashed upon the citizenry.

tRump will spend the next four years campaigning for re-election on the need for “law and order” and “American values.” He will probably follow president Biden and the VP around wherever they go and stage massive counter-rallies across the country, inciting violence and chaos – which he will then blame on the Dems.

By refusing to concede, tRump is depriving Biden of access to transition funds, and he is actively obstructing the normally and peaceful transition that should at this point be well under way. This would normally be considered TREASON…

But while he has the moral standing of an election win, Joe Biden has no power to implement his plans until Inauguration Day on January 20.

73 million Americans voted for an authoritarian despot as their leader. Republican support for tRump’s continuous assault on the constitution is truly baffling, considering the Republican party claims to hold the fucking constitution as some kind of sacred scroll.

But the GOP operates like a cult now; all policies flow from the top down – directly from tRump – instead of from the bottom up, as things would operate in a functioning democracy.

But then again, Republicans claim to be “pro-life” while they vociferously support the death penalty and endless wars; they claim to be fiscal conservatives while amassing huge budget deficits; they are passionate advocates of freedom of religion while simultaneously attacking any religion that is not Christianity, and they claim to support “free speech” as they condemn any thought outside of right wing orthodoxy as being un-American.

tRump is the end point of all this, of the Republican party’s drive to win power at all costs, whether it undermines the Democratic process or not doesn’t matter as long as it irrevocably fractures an already broken society…or somehow enriches the tRump clan. The GOP have become a rogue agency, a terrorist organization with increasingly authoritarian and anti-democratic beliefs.

But the real Truth, of course, is that the US electoral system is the very definition of ‘fraudulent’ and the American empire is actually a banana republic. And a third-rate one at that.

Look at the way those two shambling, vile old relics toothlessly bark at each other over who gets to pretend to be president for the next four years.

Joe Biden’s performance in the debates was cadaverous, at best. He’s so old he can barely complete a fucking sentence! Not my idea of a viable candidate, put it that way.

Not to disparage the many Black people who worked tirelessly to elect Biden, nor the folks who braved the coronavirus and stood in line for hours just to vote –  but if this election demonstrated one thing, it’s how completely broken our political system is.

It is not democracy when voters are only given a choice between two branches of the same party, fronted by two highly deficient old white men.

The Democrats are at best ‘Republican-lite.’ They simply provide a false sense of supporting “The people” while continuing policies that support their corporate masters.

Biden may be a “good” man, especially compared to the current occupant of the White House, but can anyone expect any real change in political behavior over the next four years? Doubtful, although there will be plenty of shouting about Republican ‘obstructionism.’

Some things never change, only the performers.  The people either vote for the party of active, racist looting for the rich (Republicans), or they can vote for pragmatic, rhetorically-friendly looting for the rich (Dems).

And so, because we fail to acknowledge the world as it really is, we also fail to create a framework which reflects that reality so that we can change and adapt to it.

What Americans must learn from this debacle is that our much-vaunted “freedoms” and “democracy” have been seriously undermined by both the GOP’s efforts to disenfranchise minorities and by Dems’ efforts to win the Presidency by any means necessary. The 2-party system is a fucking joke.

We can’t fix things we can’t acknowledge and don’t even see.
