The grim truth about Uvalde

There will be much said and little done by the time the investigations into “what went wrong” with the police response into the Uvalde School shooting is over.

Why didn’t the cops act sooner to save those kids? How come it took so long? Why, why, why? What could have been done differently? What can we learn from this terrible tragedy?

This is the real elephant in the room, isn’t it?

The answer is obvious:  American cops are by and large a bunch of sniveling COWARDS.

We really can’t rely on them to do anything except kill innocent people. Especially if the suspect is black or brown or doesn’t speak English…

Sure, they like to get dressed up in full combat armor and cradle their machine guns and look real scary and talk tough, but for the most part that’s about it.

Unless they can shoot some poor Negro in the back at close range, these guys aren’t really going to be much help.

It’s the training. And I’m not even going to qualify that statement with an, ‘or lack thereof’ because it’s the training. In the USA, cops are trained to routinely disregard the lives of black and brown people in hugely disproportionate numbers to whites, all in the name of “fighting crime.”

They usually shoot first and ask questions later.

If the initial reports from Uvalde had said there was an armed Black man in the building they would’ve been in there in an instant.

But like the rest of the country, even after the George Floyd uproar, “Officer Involved Shootings” are way up this year in Albuquerque. In most of those cases the suspect died, so there’s only one side to the story to be told. Ironically enough, police officers are also getting shot at in record numbers, and advocates always ask what can be done to alleviate all the “violence on the streets?”

Oh my, oh my, oh my. What can be done to prevent so many of our cops from being shot at?

Hey, I’ve got an idea: HOW ABOUT THE FUCKING POLICE UNION STARTS SUPPORTING SOME DECENT GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION INSTEAD OF OPPOSING EVEN THE MOST REASONABLE COMMON-SENSE LAWS – LAWS DESIGNED TO HELP SAVE THE LIVES OF COPS?

The police officers I’ve seen lately are real good at terrorizing homeless people and beating up peaceful protestors and other people exercising their First Amendment rights, but they’re not so good at protecting and serving the community.

Unless you’re rich and white, of course…

There isn’t much crime up in the heights, oh no…
