While most of the world is still in shock, the Trumpanzees are having their last big end-zone victory twerk this weekend, rejoicing in blissful ignorance of what they have wrought. The nation hasn’t been this divided since 1861. Those of us who were Bernie supporters are not only shocked and appalled at the GOP; we are overcome with disgust at the Democratic Party’s shenanigans.

Everyone except those ignorantly celebrating this ominous victory are filled with dread and trepidation for the future. A certifiable lunatic will be the next – and perhaps last – captain of this doomed ship of fools. With horror we witnessed the decisions he has already made. They presage sinister, ominous events to come. All bets are off after January 20^th.

Historically, right-wing backlash has seen the rise of the ignorant, the violent, and the bigoted: a portent of the Age of Stupid which lies ahead, spreading like a pandemic throughout society. It is necessary to bring these dimwits around somehow because we can’t prevent the looming disaster with such a huge obstacle in our path. But since they are completely impervious to reality, facts won’t work.

So what do you use instead of facts? Logic doesn’t work because they dwell in an entirely separate reality than the rest of us. Religion doesn’t work because they don’t believe what they preach. Appealing to their better natures doesn’t work, either, because well…they don’t have better natures.

None of these things affect Trumpanzees because they equate facts and data with opinion, so they figure since we all have equal rights, their blind ignorance is just as good as someone else’s knowledge. a classic case of false equivalence. This is what happens when people are told what to think by the purveyors of wacky ideologies, rather than how to think for themselves as individuals.

Trump’s “election” was a direct result of the MSM injecting disinformation and fearmongering into what we used to call political discourse in America. Extraordinary claims with absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back them up is the stock-in-trade of the neocons. It is a kind of weaponized political ideology, used to bludgeon any competing narratives into submission.

Three totally corrupt branches of government; a docile, obedient press and a militarized police force have perverted this government beyond repair. A tyrant has appeared, and he’s perfect for America: he’s an excellent con-artist; a raging sociopath; a misogynist and a racist; he loves to tell people what they want to hear, and his main purpose in life is to blow tons of other people’s money. He’s an unrepentant speed-freak who tweets veiled threats to his enemies at 3am, and he addresses his followers at Nazi-esque political rallies.

Behold: our Führer has come!

Trump is putting together a cabinet that Darth Vader would be proud of. He and his minions represent the greatest challenge to our democracy – probably ever – and he will be the nemesis of freedom-loving people everywhere during his hopefully short tenure. His ignorance and hubris will only amplify the damage his psychopathic appointees will surely do.

At least it’s clear now who the real enemy is. The so-called progressives were way too ambivalent about Obama: he was a decent man, but he was a tool of the Military-Industrial-Complex, just like all the rest.

There is certainly nothing even remotely likeable about the Screaming Orange Head. Not to normal people, anyway…

It’s important to stay enraged and disgusted in the coming days and weeks ahead. Do not let the abhorrent become the new normal! It’s hard to live day-to-day in such an enraged state, I know, but for those of us who are mortified by this situation, it is important to stay engaged, if not enraged. With each passing day there will be something new to fulminate over. We need to reaffirm our solidarity for Enlightenment values every chance we get.

Otherwise, it’s back to the dark ages.
