California’s loathsome Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter’s wife Margaret pleaded guilty last week to conspiring with her husband to “knowingly and willingly” convert hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds for their own personal use. She has agreed to cooperate with State prosecutors in the case against her husband, Duncan “Donut” Hunter (as he is not known by his friends).

Both Hunters previously pleaded not guilty to federal charges that they had stolen more than a quarter of a million dollars in campaign funds to furnish their lavish, moronic lifestyle.

Mrs. Hunter appeared alone with her lawyers in a federal district court in San Diego where she changed her original Not Guilty plea in the high-profile case. “Donut” did not appear with his wife on Thursday. Quelle surprise!

She acknowledged that she was part of a conspiracy(that word again!!) along with her husband, to spent more than $10,000 on a family vacation to Italy with the campaign credit card, knowing full well it was a crime. The family would never have been able to afford it otherwise. Donut Hunter tried to set up a one-day tour of a US naval base in Italy to justify the expensive trip.

By pleading guilty, she has acknowledged that they spent more than $200,000 in campaign funds for personal use.

Duncan Donut Hunter has been in the headlines lately for a separate controversy with his forceful defense of “president” Donld tRumps’s considering granting a pardon to Edward “Eddie” Gallagher, a former Navy SEAL accused of war crimes.

In his defense of Gallagher, Donut said he’d posed for a photo with a dead enemy combatant before, and he boasted that his unit had “probably killed hundreds of civilians.”

Well, heck – I feel a whole lot better now.
