There is no better example of just how housebroken and desperate many Americans are than the sight of all of those mass protests being held around the country by people demanding the right to die – literally – for the privilege of going back to work.
The protesters say that the public safety measures restricting movement and closing businesses are an overreaction to Covid-19 crisis, and they believe it unnecessarily hurts average citizens.
One protester in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Christian Yingling, said the protest he attended at the state capitol was “an acceptable risk.”
Mr. Yingling summed up the dire situation facing many Americans due to the Coronavirus pandemic: “My mortgage payments are late, my truck payment is late and if I lose either of those I’m dead in the water.”
He went on: “I’m gonna do what I got to do to feed my family…if it means I got to risk my health then so be it… and yes even potentially the health of others.”
Okay, so in my book that’s not just dangerously irresponsible and antisocial behavior, it’s premeditated murder.
I’m sorry people like Mr. Yingling are so desperate they are willing to sacrifice their entire family and their livelihood for the sake of keeping capitalism alive…
I pity them. These poor souls obviously have no savings, they’re in debt up their eyeballs and they have always lived from paycheck to paycheck. But they shouldn’t be able to endanger the lives of others because of their own irresponsibility. It’s their own damn fault.
Look, I’m sorry they are now paying the price for voting against their own interests time and time again, year after year. I’m sorry there’s no social safety net in this country because of their contempt for liberal, progressive politics. I’m sorry they voted to defund SNAP because it might be helping non-whites.
I’m sorry that unemployment insurance is insufficient and will soon run out. I’m sorry they consistently voted against candidates who supported universal healthcare and social welfare programs like sick leave, affordable daycare and paid vacation time. I’m sorry they were somehow convinced that unions are evil…
And I’m really sorry you can’t afford the payments on your gigantic, gas-guzzling Ford F150, Mr. Yingling, if that is your real name. It was your choice to buy that piece of shit. I’m sorry you have to feed those 8 fucking children you didn’t need and should never have been allowed to have. I’m sorry you had to buy that huge house you knew you couldn’t afford. I’m sorry your phone bill is three thousand dollars a month.
But it’s not my problem. You have only yourself to blame for your current situation. Anyone willing to die and potentially kill others simply because they can’t pay their bills needs to be rounded up and locked away somewhere until this whole global pandemic is over.
I’m sorry.
