“President” Joe Biden’s measly ten thousand dollar student forgiveness program doesn’t go nearly far enough to actually fix the student debt crisis. It’s just another half-assed attempt by Our Rulers to appease the unwashed masses with the few “crumbs” that the Elite are willing to throw our way.
One of the most important lessons I learned from my time as a “non-traditional” student at the University of New Mexico was how expensive it is to attend college in the USA, and what a drain it can be both financially and physically. I never would’ve be able to afford UNM without the use of my wife’s “dependent education” tuition benefit – one of the few good benefits left for University employees and their spouses.
Excessive tuition costs, even when offset by scholarships and financial aid, make college more difficult than ever for the ‘average’ person to access a decent college education. This is all part of The Plan, obviously. Keeping tuition fees unreasonably high not only serves to weed out “undesirables” as it were, it also enslaves students with huge, burdensome debts for the rest of their adult lives.
The USA is one of the few industrialized nations which does not offer a fully subsidized college education to its citizens. This is yet another example of the contempt Our Rulers have for their own people – the ‘unwashed masses.’
It’s also one of the reasons this country lags so far behind the rest of the world in literacy and the STEM sciences.
The outrageous costs associated with college in Umerka and the fear of potentially crippling debts have already driven many people away from higher education – even those eligible for financial aid or Lottery grants. Poorer students who qualify for loans are often shouldered with debts totaling tens of thousands of dollars or more by the time they graduate. And with so few well-paying jobs available – and little chance the recent talk of “debt forgiveness” will ever pan out – students will likely never be able to pay the money back.
This is an unnecessary drain on college graduates and the overall economy.
The progressive movement to erase student debt as a means of economic stimulus is a good idea. I pray that the concept continues to gain traction. But I have my doubts something that would help so many people will ever come to pass. Considering how much contempt Our Rulers have for average citizens in the USA, this has zero chance of becoming a reality.
Student debt has now reached crisis levels – over a TRILLION dollars! – and this situation must be reversed soon or Umerika’s ability to compete on a global scale will be seriously diminished. Maybe that is the ultimate goal of Our Rulers? Keep the herd ignorant…
Forgiving all current student loan debt and severely cutting the costs of attending college are imperative for the future economic health of our nation…such as it is…
Another painful lesson I learned as a “non-traditional’ student is that unfortunately, many “traditional” students couldn’t care less about actually educating themselves. Most are simply there because their parents demanded it, or because they think it will get them a better job…or just to party…
It’s depressing how willfully ignorant many young people are about the world around them, and how little they truly care – despite all those platitudes about how “connected” and “motivated” the current generation is, and how smart and talented they are and blah blah blah it’s all about fucking SELF-ESTEEM. Too many young people today are more interested in the latest gadgets, fashions, TIK-TOK, Instagram and social networking than they are about learning stuff.
Public schooling in Umerka has clearly destroyed students’ ability to think critically, and their complete lack of interest in anything but the most trivial matters is disturbing. This should be a major cause for concern. It does not bode well for our future. I just wish that today’s college students could appreciate how lucky they are to even be able to attend college in this day and age.
Instead of behaving like a bunch of privileged little snots who want the world handed to them on a silver platter!
On the other hand, in my years at UNM I did have the opportunity to meet some wonderful, conscientious kids who were intelligent, socially active, highly literate and fully engaged in their studies. I admired the energy and determination they exhibited.
Unfortunately in my experiences at UNM they represented a minority.
We can fix this. College should be free and accessible to everyone and all student debt must be erased for the sake of our nation’s survival.
Unfortunately, the AGENDA to eradicate civilized culture and install a Christian Fascist dictatorship in the USA is in full swing. There is little time left for the pendulum to swing back.
