In the absence of any actual policies, the GOP has chosen instead to promote every unqualified, brain-damaged wannabe fascist they can find to public office. Former NFL star, wife-beater and serial philanderer Herschel Walker is a perfect example of this strategy, but he is certainly not the only one.

The Republican nominee for the US Senate in Georgia who strongly opposes abortion rights, Walker vehemently denied a recent Daily Beast report that alleged he paid for an abortion of a former girlfriend in 2009. Walker – a former Pro football player with no other qualifications for Governor – called the accusation a “flat-out lie,” and he initially said he would sue the news outlet for defamation. Until it turned out to be true.

The woman, who was not named, claimed the allegation was supported by a receipt showing a $575 payment for the procedure, along with a get-well card, purportedly from Walker. [another woman subsequently stepped forward with a similar story…]

Walker later acknowledged that he sent a $700 check to a woman who alleges the money was provided to reimburse her for an abortion, though Walker denies the check was for that purpose.

When Walker was presented with a copy of the check on live TV along with a receipt from the medical center in Georgia where the woman had the procedure, he bizarrely claimed that, “It doesn’t matter whether it’s my signature or not.”

Walker said it wasn’t relevant, and suggested that because he and the woman had a child together, the money wasn’t necessarily meant for what she is alleging.

“This is still a lie, because she’s the mother of my child,” Walker said as the sweat poured down his face. “I have no idea what that could be for.”

Oh, brother. Like, wow.  Okay, so it doesn’t matter that Herschel Walker is a terrible liar. The GOP NEEDS Herschel Walker to win in Georgia – integrity, morality and common decency, be damned! He’s the biggest Uncle Tom they could find: a man with no shame zero qualifications and even less integrity; a man who’s too fucking dumb to even understand the concept of ‘hypocrisy.’

When asked about his stance on ‘women’s issues’ he didn’t mention his opposition to women’s rights, but he made sure to cover both GOP talking points: “I think there’s no doubt: crime is very, very important,” he slurred. “This economy is tough, because they’ve got to buy groceries.”

I mean, these are outrageous, utterly hilarious statements which any rational human being would perceive as patently absurd; and if anything they appear to implicate his guilt. He doesn’t give a shit about women or women’s issues. Any idiot can see that he’s lying through his shiny white teeth. But that makes no difference to the Republicans who intend to win back the Senate at all costs.

Besides, virtually THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS ALREADY PAID FOR AT LEAST ONE ABORTION ALREADY – for various assorted girlfriends, co-workers, staffers, White House pages, underage daughters of prominent Senators, step sisters, cousins…

Because there ARE no other issues. They’ve given up on issues. The only purpose of the GOP is to continue to reward the Military-Industrial Complex [MIC] and enrich the tRump crime family, above and beyond any domestic concerns.

The new GOP game plan is to keep harping on CRIME as the number one problem in the country because that’s really all they’ve got. It goes without saying that the GOP did everything in its power to push the regressive policies which are largely responsible for the rising crime rate. And to of course to sell more guns.

The major driver of the gun violence in America is the availability of guns. DUH.

Any idiot can see that crime rates are related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, which the Republicans refuse to do one goddam thing about. The Red States which have removed all previous gun laws have unsurprisingly seen the biggest surge in gun-related crimes and suicides.

Again, anyone with an IQ over 80 can see this glaring fact, but that matters not to the GOP strategists. They know their target audience.

But the Republicans don’t intend to lose the midterms, even if they DO lose! They will simply deny the results like 2020 in their ongoing attempts to subvert whatever democracy is still left in this godforsaken country.

The Republican gubernatorial nominee in Arizona, Kari Lake, has already said she will not accept the results of the election if she loses in November.

Lake is a former Phoenix-area FOX news anchor. She’s made denying the 2020 election results a pillar of her campaign for Governor of Arizona. She has said she wouldn’t have certified the 2020 vote, saying without evidence that the election was “corrupt, rotten.”

On CNN’s State of the Union, Lake was asked three times by host Dana Bash whether she would accept the results of November’s election. She avoided the question twice before curiously saying she would only accept them if she won.

“I’m going to win the election, and I will accept that result,” she prattled, her BOTOX’d face a hideous rictus. Lake refused to answer when Bash asked her for clarification.

“I’m going to win the election, and I will accept that result,” she creepily, robotically repeated.

And thus the ultimate death of the republic is nigh; as inevitable as it is insidious. The GOP has now gone completely over the edge into the realm of sheer lunacy. Since they have no political platform, the GOP goes out of its way to find the craziest, most irrational, and above all, the most UNQUALIFIED human garbage they can get to prop up their evil agenda.

Former TV “personality” Mehmet Oz is another example of this vile paradigm. It matters not one iota that he stands for nothing beyond a nice, big smile and the ability to lie through those beautifully capped teeth. That’s exactly the point.

Speaking of which, New Mexico has its very own unqualified cretin running for Governor, Mark Ronchetti: former TV weatherman. That is virtually his only qualification for Governor, and that’s perfectly okay with the GOP. He is one of those crazy-eyed religious fanatics who will blindly follow orders from the Reichsführer without question.  And he has no problem pretending that once he gets into office he will let ‘the voters’ decide whether or not to keep abortion legal in our state. Meaning he intends to immediately ban all abortions including those involving rape and incest on his first day in office. Since he is such a “deeply religious” man, lying comes naturally to him…

Integrity is certainly not an issue with any of these boot-licking hypocrites and pathological liars.  

Ever since the dystopian Reagan era, the GOP loves to promote these vacuous washed up pseudo-celebrities as long as they follow the playbook and don’t try to come up with any policies of their own.

Whatever principles the Republicans may have once had have been lost. Nothing makes that more clear than the lack of a platform to frame the ideas which the GOP supposedly stands behind. Rather, the party has instituted a blind endorsement of former president Donald tRump and his “America First” priorities – whatever those may be. With direction from “party leadership” amounting to whatever enrages tRump on any given day, GOP simply replaced their platform with a policy of, “whatever HE says.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

Authoritarian governments do slogans and mottos, not platforms.

The sad part is they are probably gonna pull it off.
