THE FOLKS WHO BRING YOU BREAD & CIRCUSES

I sure am glad Hollywood is on strike.

Not because of the pitifully low wages or the hostile work environment or unsafe conditions or lack of benefits. Not because the studios deserve it for treating their workers so poorly. It’s nothing to do with AI taking away their jobs, or even because of my long-standing support for trade unions and collective bargaining…

Oh, no!

No, I’m happy if the world can be spared even temporarily from another fucking movie about car chases and explosions and terrorist takeovers and cops. No more Tom fucking Cruise. No more Vin Diesel. No more SUPERHERO movies! Hooray!

If this strike can delay the production of more crappy, inane sequels or prequels [or whatever] of movies that never should have been made in the first place, I’m all for it.

They want us to believe that what they do is some sort of ‘art’ or ‘magic’ in the film industry, but it’s mostly utter shite. They really should be ashamed of themselves. But they aren’t.

I say bust those unions and start all over again with intelligent, talented people…or AI! […or WOMEN, for that matter…]

Even if it’s just for a little while.

One less blockbuster piece of crap. Big deal.

If this strike can delay the next fucking BARBIE sequel for another year, so be it. The world will survive.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, consider that Mattel Corp – producers of the Barbie movie – are planning a whole slew of feature films based on Mattel’s toys, like Hot Wheels, He-Man and Polly Pocket. What Marvel did with its superheroes, Mattel is planning to do with its toys.

And Jesus wept.

Artificial Intelligence is taking over the industry anyway, and it’s too late to change that. Besides, AI probably has higher quality standards than the average Hollywood hack.

US television is just painful to watch. Network TV writers should definitely be worried about AI taking away their jobs, considering what a totally mediocre job they do now.

Most of those people wouldn’t even have jobs if it wasn’t for the rampant, unchecked nepotism in the movie and TV industry. A lot of them would be bagging groceries at the local Ralph’s right now if talent had anything to do with it…

No, I hope this strike lasts forever.
