Bread and Circuses

So many Americans are getting all steamed up about professional athletes showing some social conscience and kneeling (or whatever) as a show of support and concern over what is indeed a very troublesome aspect of our society. The main protest is in support of victims of police violence against black people, but clearly there are many reasons for this token gesture of peaceful protest.

In what way is the act of kneeling showing disrespect to our nation, anyway? Don’t subjects kneel in respect to their sovereign when being knighted? You have to kneel to pray to God, right? Sometimes several times a day. So it can’t be the act of kneeling per se…

It clearly has nothing to do with the flag or the National Anthem. That is just a smokescreen. Kneeling is actually an act of humility. The American flag is disrespected far worse when it’s made into T-shirts and hats and bikinis and underwear…but no one complains about that.

The problem is that the majority of white Americans have no interest in engaging in any real discourse about race. Which is exactly the discussion the BLM protesters are trying to initiate.

It’s the same as the people who bitch and moan that “White Lives Matter, too!” – as if the Black Lives Matter movement is trying to deny it. Again, a smokescreen. It’s much easier for many Americans to simply vilify the victims of racism rather than confront the issue. Which just proves that acts of social disobedience like this are sorely needed.

People like Colin Kaepernick have been called unpatriotic for not standing for the anthem. They complain about athletes being spoiled and rich, and that they should just play the game and keep their thoughts to themselves. This is typical master slave mentality: “Your job is to play the game, boy…” The message from the owners to the players is clear: “Quit your complaining and just be happy with what you have. Accept the few crumbs we throw your way with a smile.Or else.

White privilege at work again. Only a white guy who’s never been shot at or beaten by the police because of his skin color would tell a Black man to shut up and take it. The white trash cling to fake nostalgia and religion and guns, and they long for a time which should morally and ethically never have existed in the first place. They scorn the concept of personal responsibility for the circumstances of their own life – because they’re white, dammit, and the government owes them! They shouldn’t have to rethink their strategy or further educate themselves or work to better themselves in any way, oh no.

Such hypocrites.

The elite clearly don’t want the issue of racism to get any attention. Either because they don’t think racism exists, or more likely, they don’t want to address it…which implies they’re actually OK with it. That is essentially the view of anyone who objects to an athlete taking a knee during the anthem. They are really upset that these people are complaining about racism – an issue they simply don’t care about.

And notice how quickly the whole movement was co-opted and then ignored by the mainstream media (MSM). The Controllers really have all the bases covered. There is no way they can ever allow any protest to gain mainstream exposure and potentially grow into a real social movement. They are terrified of a legitimate civil rights initiative gaining momentum in this country. The last thing the billionaire NFL owners want is a slave revolt. The MSM did their usual excellent job of non-coverage.

By the way, US taxpayers foot the enormous bill for all of that flag-waving military propaganda which precedes every NFL game – as well as most other major sporting events; notably NASCAR. The over-the-top ultra-nationalist indoctrination is presented to the drooling masses as patriotism, but the doctrine is really more akin to fascism.

The gigantic football-field sized flags unfurled by soldiers and all the red, white and blue parades are just a preview of what the kakistocracy has in mind as they cut taxes for the rich while gutting social programs for the poor and eliminating funding for the arts. They must enforce their specific brand of patriotism: brutal, repressive, unquestioning.

tRump’s crew has been in power for a year now and they are already twisting American society into a forced display of submission to the all-powerful military junta. It can only get worse. Flying F-18s over football stadiums costs a couple of million bucks a week. So do all those on-site recruiting stations and slick TV commercials.

Your tax dollars at work.

Entertainment – and let’s face it, American sport is basically entertainment – is virtually the only path where black people can aspire to in order to become rich and famous. It’s the only arena where they receive any respect in America. For many inner-city kids, sports is their only hope of escape. The other alternatives are poverty-level wages, prison or the military.

Those who complain about mixing sports with politics should look at the history of professional sports…but of course they won’t because they’re too lazy and stupid. Needless to say the list is quite long.

If the Trumpanzees aren’t happy about the athletes who bring them so much pleasure voicing their opinions in a peaceful, respectful manner they should just stop attending games and stop watching it on TV. If the ratings fall, the leagues will lose money and players whom they believe are making too much money will receive less money in the future and ticket prices will drop. Problem solved.

So I will wait for all of them to utilize their right to protest by abandoning the sport. I have the feeling that twenty years from now people with such twisted views will still be issuing the same threat of boycotting professional sports and criticizing athletes for caring about more than just playing a game.

Some former athletes – notably Kareem Abdul Jabbar – have already seen the damning consequences of America’s institutionalized racism and called it out for what it is. The Elite only allow people of color this tiny bit of status in society because they serve their purpose: entertainment for the masses.

So here we are now. Entertain us. It is circus maximus on a massive scale.
